Be still. Empty and be filled.

Here’s the explanation you did not ask for…but maybe it’s helpful for you, too!

You might know a common meaning of “be still” and yes, that reminder is amazing.

But be still means something a little different to me.

To “be still” (Psalm 46) was an Aramaic/Hebrew phrase in its origin that meant to “empty yourself of an thought/inclination/worry that keeps you from experiencing the consolation of God.”

Emptying.

So it’s not just about being still and silent but it’s about pouring out (emptying) so that God can enter.

It’s making room in head and heart.

Stillness is very hard for me both in mind and body and if you’ve seen me buzz around, you probably are diagnosing me!

It’s something that I work on every day and now that reminder is now always in front of me.

Be still.

Empty and be filled 🙏
