Ask the right question…
During the homily last Sunday, I was reminded of a very important message. When we are overwhelmed and consumed by what we are going through, or our friends are going through, or what’s going on in the world around us – it is not up to us alone to try to figure out what to do with five loaves and a few fish. That’s where we tend to get stuck in worry, grief, etc. So instead of asking ourselves, “what can I possibly do with five loaves and two fish?” the question should be instead “what do I believe the Lord can do with five loaves and a few fish?”
And then the harder part is that we need to trust Him and give it to Him. I know too well how this is so much easier said than done so I have a saying hanging right over our bed that I see before I lay my head down every night – Give it to God and go to sleep!
So what can you do with five loaves and two fish? Not a whole lot. And you will be pretty tired. So give it to God and see what he can do 🙂
I hope this reminder is timely and helpful for you, too.
